FARGO — Dreamland Indoor Playground recently opened at 2911 45th St. S., in Fargo, and Kevin Nguyen, a co-owner of the business, said things have been going well.

Designed for children 6 months to 12 years old, Dreamland offers 3,000 square feet of low-impact play areas, including one corner of the business that is solely for children 3 and under.

One play area features side-by-side slides that allow parents and children to slide down next to each other and there is a room that can be used for parties.

According to Nguyen, popular activities include the "ball blaster," where low-powered cannons fire spongy balls at big yellow targets.

In the same area is a fountain of sorts that uses hidden blowers to keep the same spongy balls suspended in mid air as if by magic.

"The kids love it; it's like something they've never seen before," Nguyen said.

He said another popular feature is a vending machine that dispenses cotton candy.

A father himself, Nguyen said his four children ages 2 to 8 give the playground high marks.

His kids often use the play areas themselves, usually during quiet times when there aren't many customers around, according to Nguyen.

Children and parents have a number of options when it comes to utilizing the playground, with a 90-minute session costing $19.99 for one child.

There is also an all-day option for $34.99 that allows one child and their parents to come and go more than once during a given day, and a monthly option for $38.

The playground is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except on Sundays, when the hours are noon to 8 p.m.

Nguyen said he is at the business most days, but they are looking to hire more staff, which Nguyen said would allow him to step away more often from the day-to-day operation of the playground.

He said the hiring process has been slow so far, but he's optimistic the workforce side of things will improve.
