You can now take ride on Washington state's first Alpine Coaster. The Leavenworth Adventure Park officially opened yesterday and NCWLIFE spoke with General Manager John Sutherland about what the park brings to Leavenworth.

LEAVENWORTH — You can now take ride on Washington state's first Alpine Coaster.

Coaster: A single coaster ride for an adult is $20, $17 for youth (ages 7-12) and $5 for a child (ages 3-6). For a 3-Coaster ride, it is $48 for adults, $42 for youth, and $15 for a child.

Bungee Trampoline: Everyone is $12 per experience.

Climbing Wall: Everyone is $12 per experience.

Mining Sluice: $8 for a 3-pound bag of rough including 15+ gemstone rocks.

The Leavenworth Adventure Park officially opened yesterday, and riders rejoiced at the chance to hop on the Tumwater Twister Alpine Coaster and choose exactly how they’d like to enjoy the ride.

The coaster is a German-built, rider-controlled expedition where visitors can take it slow and enjoy the scenery or zoom by at 27-mile-per-hour speed.

The park features other interactive attractions like a lion-resembling climbing wall with multiple levels of difficulty, a bungee bounce trampoline, and a mining sluice for people of all ages to pan for gemstones.

"We kind of see it as the place that families can come and have some entertainment and see a great view," General Manager John Sutherland said.

The park has been met with some opposition previously by Leavenworth residents, some folks citing concerns over traffic, parking, noise and aesthetics.

Sutherland says that the addition of the park is on-brand for the town.

"They're all over Bavaria, so I could say this actually makes [Leavenworth] more Bavarian than it was before," Sutherland said. "Not everyone will like it, but I think it fits with what the town actually is, which is a tourist town and a Bavarian-themed town."

There is no admission fee for the park and guests pay for the attractions only.

It is $12 per experience for both the bungee trampoline and the climbing wall and it is $8 for a 3-pound bag of rough including 15+ gemstone rocks at the mining sluice.

The park encourages advance reservations and also offers other pricing packages for the attractions. Visitors can make reservations and read more about the packages on the park website.

Now that the park is open for business, Sutherland said it reminds him of theater production and seeing positive audience reactions.

"Here it's watching people have fun on something you created," he said. "It's kind of a trip really, you know? I love it."
